bob chabot

singer songwriter

Bob Chabot hails from Northampton, Massachusetts. He performs original songs, accompanying himself on acoustic guitar and mandolin, with a little harmonica thrown in for good measure.  He plays solo shows and also performs backed by the Swamp Brothers , Dennis Avery (dobro), and Chris Haynes (accordion and piano).

Chabot has been dancing around the periphery of the singer-songwriter scene for 40 years.  In the late eighties and early nineties he was part of the New York scene, playing the Speakeasy in Greenwich Village, part of the famed Songwriters' Exchange, and recording with the Fast Folk Musical Magazine.

After leaving New York, Chabot appeared three times at the Kerrville Folk Festival, once as a New Folk finalist and twice as a finalist in Paul Stookey’s Music To Life songwriting competition. His song  Too Long On The Mound, a song about the collapse of the 2003 Boston Red Sox, received regional airplay.

Bob's songs span a wide range of topics, from the personal to the political, from observations on life to anthems of protest.  Regular concert goers often sing along to their favorites througout the evening.  See a show.  It is a moving experience.
