singer songwriter
Bob Chabot is a singer-songwriter based in Northampton, Massachusetts. He accompanies himself on acoustic guitar, mandolin and harmonica, and performs both solo and with a band. Recent shows have been billed as The Chabot Experience, and feature Colleen Stanton on fiddle, Dan Grip on upright bass, and Ethan Hack-Chabot on various stringed instruments.
Chabot has been dancing around the periphery of the singer-songwriter scene for many years. In the late eighties and early nineties he was part of the New York scene, and appeared regularly at the Speakeasy in Greenwich Village. He was part of the famed Songwriters' Exchange, and recorded with the Fast Folk Musical Magazine.
After leaving New York, Chabot appeared three times at the Kerrville Folk Festival, once as a New Folk finalist and twice as a finalist in Paul Stookey’s Music To Life songwriting competition. His songs Snowfall, and I'm Not Gonna Say My Name appear on the first two Bringing Music to Life compilation CDs. Another of his songs, Too Long On The Mound, a song about the fall of the 2003 Boston Red Sox, received regional airplay.
Bob has released two CDs. The first, a five-song EP released in 2003, On a Farm with a Pond and a Goat , was recently re-released with the bonus track Too Long on the Mound.
In 2025, he released Strange Vacation, his first full-length CD, featuring many of the valley's finest musicians.
Over recent years, Bob has performed regularly in and around Northampton, including regular performances at Noho's Back Porch Festivals.
